Fundwork is Base-native, meaning every payment, identity, and transaction record lives on Base. Choosing Base wasn’t incidental — it’s central to how Fundwork delivers fast, affordable, and verifiable payments for both clients and talent.

What Base Is

Base is an Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) blockchain built and maintained by Coinbase. It inherits Ethereum’s security model while dramatically reducing transaction costs and confirmation times. Base is EVM-compatible, open to developers, and designed with mainstream consumer adoption in mind.

Why Base Is the Right Fit

Low transaction fees

Base transactions cost a fraction of what they would on Ethereum mainnet. Lower fees mean more of every payment goes to the talent, not to the network.

Fast finality

Transactions on Base typically confirm in seconds. Talent receives their USDC almost immediately after a client approves the work — no lengthy confirmation waits.

Built by Coinbase

Coinbase’s infrastructure, compliance experience, and developer tooling back Base. This provides a stable, well-supported foundation for a marketplace handling real payments.

Strong developer ecosystem

Base is EVM-compatible and deeply integrated with the broader Ethereum tooling landscape. This makes it straightforward to verify transactions, interact with wallets, and build on top of Fundwork.

Base and Your Fundwork Identity

Fundwork uses Base Account names (.base.eth) to identify clients and talent on completion receipts and across the platform. Your .base.eth name is your on-chain identity — human-readable, tied to your Base-compatible wallet, and visible to both parties in every transaction.
Because Fundwork is Base-native, you need a Base-compatible wallet address to receive payments. Set your payout address in your Fundwork profile before work is approved.
