Most payments on Fundwork settle within seconds of a client approving work. If a payment appears pending longer than expected or seems to have failed, follow the steps below to diagnose and resolve the issue.
Base transactions confirm extremely fast — typically within seconds. A payment that has been pending for more than a few minutes is worth investigating, but is rarely lost.

Common Reasons a Payment May Be Delayed or Fail

Base is a high-throughput L2, so congestion is uncommon. On rare occasions of unusually high network activity, transactions may take slightly longer to be included in a block. This resolves on its own — no action is needed.
If the client’s account did not have enough USDC to cover the payment at the time of approval, the transaction may fail to execute. The client should verify their balance and re-initiate the payment if needed.
If a payout address is malformed or not compatible with Base, the transaction may fail before it is submitted. Talent should verify their payout address in Fundwork profile settings and ensure it is a valid Base-compatible wallet address.

Steps to Take

1

Wait for block confirmation

If the payment shows as pending, wait a few minutes. Base transactions nearly always confirm quickly, and some brief delays can occur. Do not take further action until you have waited at least 5 minutes.
2

Check the block explorer with your transaction hash

If Fundwork has generated a transaction hash for your payment, copy it and search for it on BaseScan. The block explorer will show you the current status of the transaction — pending, confirmed, or failed — along with any error details.
3

Verify your payout address (talent)

If you are the talent and the payment shows as failed, check that your payout address in Fundwork settings is a valid, Base-compatible 0x… wallet address. Correct it if necessary before requesting re-payment.
4

Check USDC balance (client)

If you are the client and the payment failed, confirm that your account holds sufficient USDC on Base to cover the payment amount.
5

Contact support if unresolved

If you have followed the steps above and the payment is still unresolved, reach out for help. For unresolved issues, contact support at [support details will be published before public launch].
Do not attempt to resend a payment before confirming on the block explorer that the original transaction did not succeed. Sending duplicate payments is difficult to undo once confirmed on-chain.
