Every payment on Fundwork is settled in USDC on Base. When you approve a milestone, a winning submission, or a Campaign contribution, payment is issued to the worker’s payout address on Base. Both you and the worker receive a completion receipt with the on-chain transaction hash — a permanent, verifiable record of the payment.
1

Approve the work

Payment begins with your approval. You can’t pay until you’ve reviewed and approved the delivered work. Go through the approval process first — see Approving Work for the full walkthrough.
2

Ensure you have sufficient USDC on Base

Before approving work that triggers a payment, make sure your connected Base account holds enough USDC to cover the amount.
You must have sufficient USDC on Base to complete payment. Fundwork payments are denominated in USDC — not ETH or any other token. If your balance is insufficient at the time of approval, the payment will not go through.
If you need to acquire or bridge USDC to Base before posting or paying, do so before you reach the approval step.
3

Payment is issued to the worker's payout address

Once you approve, payment is issued in USDC on Base directly to the worker’s payout address — the Base address associated with their Fundwork account. You don’t need to manually send funds. The payment is processed through Fundwork after your approval is confirmed.
4

Receive your on-chain receipt

After the payment completes, both you and the worker receive a completion receipt. Your receipt includes:
  • The payment amount in USDC
  • The recipient’s payout address
  • The on-chain transaction hash — a permanent record of the payment on Base
You can use the transaction hash to verify the payment independently on any Base block explorer.
Save your transaction hashes. Because every payment produces an on-chain record, Fundwork payments are fully auditable — useful for accounting, reporting, or any dispute resolution.
5

Continue to the next milestone (Contracts)

For multi-milestone Contracts, payment is issued per milestone. After each approval and payment, the next milestone becomes active. Repeat the review and approval process until all milestones are complete. For Bounties, payment is issued once to each selected winner. For Campaigns, payment is issued per approved submission until the pool is exhausted.
