# Choosing the Right Opportunity Format for Your Work

> Not sure whether to post a Contract, Bounty, or Campaign on Fundwork? This guide helps you pick the right format for your project.

Fundwork gives you three ways to structure paid work. Each format fits a different situation — use this guide to find the one that matches what you actually need.

## Format overview

<CardGroup cols={3}>
  <Card title="Contract" icon="file-signature">
    **Choose talent upfront.**

    You select a specific worker before any work begins. Structure the project into milestones, approve each stage, and pay in USDC as you go.

    Best for planned, scoped work where you want a dedicated collaborator.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Bounty" icon="trophy">
    **Open it to everyone.**

    Anyone can submit completed work. You review the field and reward the best submission — or multiple submissions — with USDC.

    Best for competitive, creative, or exploratory work where you want options.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Campaign" icon="layer-group">
    **Reward volume and participation.**

    Pay a fixed USDC amount for every qualifying submission approved, until your reward pool runs out.

    Best for repeated tasks, community participation, or work that benefits from many contributors.
  </Card>

## Decision guide

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="I know exactly what I need and want to hire one person to do it.">
    Use a **Contract**.

    You have a defined scope, a timeline, and you want to choose who does the work before it starts. Add milestones to break the project into reviewable stages and pay as each one is approved.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I want to see multiple interpretations before committing to one.">
    Use a **Bounty**.

    Open your brief to everyone, receive finished submissions, and pick the one — or ones — that hit the mark. Great for logo concepts, launch videos, copy, and any creative work where seeing real options matters.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I need a lot of the same type of work done by many different people.">
    Use a **Campaign**.

    If you want many contributors each completing a defined task — and you want to reward every person whose work qualifies — a campaign pays a fixed USDC amount per approved submission until your pool runs out.

    Note: Campaigns are in alpha and details will be published before public launch.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I want to find bugs, gather feedback, or crowdsource research.">
    Either a **Bounty** or a **Campaign** works — depending on whether you want a winner or want to reward everyone.

    * Use a **Bounty** if you want to reward the best report or a handful of standout submissions.
    * Use a **Campaign** if you want to reward every valid bug report or feedback entry up to a total budget.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I have a longer project that involves multiple deliverables over time.">
    Use a **Contract with milestones**.

    Hire the right person upfront, then structure the work into distinct stages — each with its own title and USDC amount. You only pay for a milestone once you approve it, giving you control at every step.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I want the community to participate in a challenge or content drive.">
    Use a **Bounty** for a one-time challenge, or a **Campaign** for ongoing participation.

    * A bounty with multiple winners works well for community contests where you want to reward several strong entries.
    * A campaign works well when you want to keep paying contributors as long as they keep submitting qualifying work and the pool lasts.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

<Tip>
  Still unsure? Start with the question: *Do I want to choose who does the work before it begins, or do I want to see the work first?* If you want to choose upfront, use a Contract. If you want to see finished work first, use a Bounty or Campaign.
</Tip>

<Note>
  Fundwork is currently in **alpha**. All three formats are live and actively being developed. More detail on Campaigns will be published before the public launch.
